I had to wait a LONG time (30-45 minutes) but it was a beautiful day and I got to poke around and take some other non-train photographs while I waited, so it was fun either way.

At this point the crew took off and left the engines running. I had no idea what was going on so I hung around just in case a replacement crew showed up. After a little while I took off since it was getting late and figured that I would just have to miss this one.

The next morning I rolled down to the yard as usual and I could hear the low rumble of the engines in the distance and could see them through the trees. I was astonished that they were still there, in the same place, still running. I asked a friend for some info and it turns out the crew gets shuttled back to their location outside of Madison and comes back for the train the next day.  Kinda crazy, but I took the opportunity to get some more shots.

Of course, I did end up missing it when it finally pulled out later in the day, but it was cool to be able to spend so much time with some cool SOO engines.

Listen to me! Total rail nerd. But that’s okay, it was bound to happen. Maybe “railfan.thiswayeast.com” is in order? Haha we all knew it was coming eventually.

Hopefully I can get some more photos up soon, I’ve been stockpiling so I have a lot in the wings, waiting. Summer is always so busy so I just have to squeeze stuff in where I can.

I’m going to California in the middle of August to visit my hometown and some of our old stomping grounds. I’m super excited for that and I know when I come back I’m going to be swamped with photos, so hopefully I can get a few things up before then!

We’ll start off with me modeling the greatest t-shirt that I have ever created and had produced. “I’d Rather Be Benching” says it all!

I have a lot of new photos to finish editing and post, but I’ll go ahead and just post what I have ready now, since I’ve been meaning to do it for a long time. I’m such a slacker! Eventually most of these will be making it to TWE, but for now, they’ll be debuted here for you to enjoy. I hope you like them!

The second set is just from the sunken flower garden in of the rooms at the conservatory. So many pretty flowers in full bloom and so so fragrant! It was great.

And then there were some of the biggest gardenias I’ve ever seen:

And since Spring is acting like it’s NEVER going to come, I’m sure we all could use a good dose of bright flowers and green plants (after a bunch of fish of course). Here is the first set, with the second to follow shortly. Enjoy.

This guy cracked me up!

I got a lot of both graffiti and non-graffiti photos and since they all just looked so good together, I decided to post them all at once on both AUIYNHYG as well as The TWE PhotoBlog. Hopefully this will give those who read AUIYNHYG a taste of what else fuels my fire and will give the readers of TWPB some exposure to the other stuff that occupies a good deal of my time.

Quickly becoming a favorite.

There was a big ol’ pile of corn on the tracks and I thought it would be fun to stand in it. Turns out I was right. I’m goofy like that. Except that then my shoes got all dusty and I had to clean them off in the snow.

My first JRAFE(!) and it had to be like this….*sigh*

Standing in the corn pile caused A LOT of corn to get stuck in my shoes.

I always hit my head whenever I have to get flicks this way, no matter how careful I am. I’m sure my noggin is super lumpy as a result.

So there you have it. The end of March means that April is here and then comes May and then finally Summer. I’ve been pretty busy all spring so I’m even more anxious to see what the summer has in store.
